Complete Details Of This Software VoC: The Isle Dragon Roars

Voice of Cards, a series inspired by tabletop RPGs and gamebooks told entirely through a medium of cards, is now available for smartphones! Enjoy an all-new yet appealing nostalgic gaming experience from YOKO TARO, Keiichi Okabe, and Kimihiko Fujisaka, developers of the NieR and Drakengard series.

■Gameplay
Just like during a tabletop RPG, you're guided through the story by the game master as you journey through a world where all the field, town, and dungeon maps are depicted as cards.

The battles are turn-based, and gems—an item needed to unleash skills and granted each turn—are key to victory. You can also deal extra damage or inflict status ailments with a roll of the dice—an action that may determine your fate...

■Story
Long, long ago, the people lived in peace. But then the Dragon appeared, sowing terror throughout the land.

Valiantly, the kingdom fought, claiming narrow victory. Grievously wounded, the Dragon fled.

Thenceafter, the years passed, and people again knew peace. Until the Dragon returned.

Now the queen gathers adventurers to slay the Dragon...

So fun! And the story is so good! I’m used to the dialogue in these kinds of games getting cumbersome, with too many drawn-out conversations, but not here! The exploration was so satisfying, and the cards going woosh... oh man, perfection. I prefer turn-based combat, so from my perspective, the combat here did not disappoint either. I only wish there were more of this game <3 edit: there IS more of this game! yei! edit2: I do agree that this game works great on mobile edit3: music is magical

This would be okay on other platforms, but lends itself very well to mobile. You can save almost anywhere and play primarily by tapping different elements rather than trying to deal with a virtual joystick. The story is unabashedly silly, the characters are fun if shallow, and the art is nice. Less gratuitous character designs on the whole as other mobile games, which I appreciated. Gameplay mechanics are reasonably slight, but isn't too much of a problem for a 12ish hour runtime.

A solid turn-based RPG with good fundamentals, nice card art, and that Yoko Taro... charm? Movement can be a mite finnicky (a small problem in a game like this) and scrolling through items mid-battle is tricky to impossible (a far bigger problem, but only mattered for me on the last boss). The combat has a solid balance between depth and simplicity, and is surprisingly flashy for a game repped entirely by cards, and the story goes places. A dozen houts is a good length for a game like this.
